The Real Battle Of A Struggling Policeman
In this article, we'll feature Kenji Shibata, the man who was struggling with a disease that he still fights until today.
It was June 29, 2018 Friday. The actors and actresses of the 1999 Super Sentai (Squadron) Series Kyuukyuu Sentai GouGouFaibu (Emergency/Rescue Squadron GoGoFive/Five-Five-Five) were reunited. One of these actors is Kenji Shibata, the man who played the Japanese Policeman Daimon Tatsumi/GoYellow/FiveYellow Mk. II/Yellow Four Mk. II. However, he came for such a special occasion: Kenji has a brain tumor that was incurable. The surgeons had attempted many times to remove a tumor, but it came back over and over again. The actors Ryuuichirou Nishioka (Matoi Tatsumi), Masashi Taniguchi (Nagare Tatsumi), Atsushi Harada (Shou Tatsumi) and Kayoko Shibata a.k.a. Monika Sakaguchi (Matsuri Tatsumi) were there express their sympathies to their fellow actor, telling him that he won't struggle and that he must keep fighting the disease or die trying.
Eight months later, on February 17, 2019 Sunday, they were watching the Super Sentai (Squadron) Strongest Battle in their separate homes, apartments and even bars. Like I mentioned in the previous post, the three Tatsumi Siblings (Nagare of the Scientist Team, Daimon of the Police Team and Matsuri of the Serious Team) were defeated in the Round Of 32. So, if Kenji watched this miniseries on his either wheelchair or on his resting chair and his character's team was eliminated in Round Of 32, he would've had a heart attack, having a breathing difficulty, or worst, his brain tumor could've been in extreme danger. Talk about a struggle between life and death!
But was the fight on TV Asahi meant something for Kenji? It wasn't, according to one of Kenji's friends. The real battle that Kenji fight on was not the hatred of his friends, whether they're older or younger than him, or extreme actions against his comrades. Not even swear or blasphemous words that came out of his mouth either. But what? It was the disease that he was definitely fighting with and this wasn't caused by some villains or some monsters inside his brain but by health concerns. In other words, he is struggling for his life and if he loses this battle, will he even make it to the 20th Anniversary of GoGoFive/Five-Five-Five on September 1, 2019 Sunday alive? We'll see if he can make that event alive or not.
So, we hoped and pray for continuous recovery of Kenji Shibata. Keep up the fight, Capital City Police Department Police Superintendent Daimon Tatsumi! Even if you lose the fight against the Super Sentai (Squadron) Teams before and after you, your real battlefield is your brain, your intelligence that the memories inside will live on forever in your-and our-minds! Always!!!
